NEW PUBLICATION

JOURNEY THROUGH THE MANUAL OF A COURSE IN MIRACLES
Kenneth Wapnick, Ph.D.

This line-by-line presentation of the manual is organized around two themes and variations of these two themes. The structure is inspired by the music of Beethoven, specifically the beautiful third movement of his Ninth Symphony; its two themes alternatively transcending the worldly and plumbing the depths of human feeling. In one sense, the purpose of this book is to demonstrate the masterful way in which Jesus weaves together his basic message with the musical form of theme and variation guiding us on our journey.

NEW DVD RELEASE

Innocence Lost - Innocence Regained: The Othello Syndrome.
Kenneth Wapnick, Ph.D.

“The Othello Syndrome,” exemplified by Shakespeare's tragic hero, refers to the horrific experience of believing that one's sin of destroying innocence is irreversible and beyond redemption: “What was done cannot be done without” (M-17.8:12). All walk the earth with the pain of guilt gnawing deep within: we exist because we stole love from our Father's House, as did Othello when he eloped with Desdemona without her father's consent. Our only hope lies in recognizing all this is a dream. Asking Jesus' help means taking his hand as he leads us back to the mind where we can choose again: innocence instead of guilt, love instead of fear.

NEW PUBLICATIONS - AUDIO TAPES & CDs

The Quiet Center: Through Specialness to Love

This set consists of two workshops and an Academy class that fcus on the ego's special love and the love that Jesus offers us in its stead. The workshops, which frame this set, are based on two Shakespearean sonnets. Sonnet 138, which we can subtitle “Simple Truth Suppressed,” portrays the duplicity of the special love relationship; while Sonnet 116 extols the wonders of love's constancy: “an ever-fixed mark.” The Academy class is entitled “Centeredness: Letting Go of Specialness,” and includes discussions on the applications of the Course's principles of forgiveness to our everyday lives. The ultimate answer to the scarcity principle that is the core of all special relationships is returning to the mind's quiet center -- “the stately calm within” -- wherein dwells the Holy Spirit, the memory of love that reminds us of our Identity as God's eternal Love.

Jesus: Wakening to Resurrection

Framed by two Easter poems of Helen Schucman -- “Easter” and “The Resurrection and the Life” -- the workshop discusses the meaning of the resurrection, defined in A Course in Miracles as awakening from the dream of death. This opening of our eyes to the truth, therefore, has nothing to do with anything physical, but only with the mind's decision to accept the Atonement for itself. The talk contrasts the mutually exclusive views of Jesus as found in the biblical or traditional view and in the Course. The former makes the ego's world of separation and sin real, while the latter gently exposes the lies inherent in this thought system of sacrifice and death. (Workshop originally titled: “Easter: 'I Did Not Die.'”)

Love: Dark Night and Living Flame

Drawing upon the inspired poetry of St. John of the Cross and Helen Schucman, the workshop depicts our spiritual journey from the despair of darkness to the hope-filled light of love's presence. As Jesus is the central figure on this path, we observe our projections onto him, recognizing that our guilt and anger are but thin veils that cannot truly hide our burning love for him. Paraphrasing one of Helen's poems, he is indeed our lord, our love, our life.

Miracles versus Magic

The workshop discusses the differences between miracles and magic: the latter roots us in the ego's dream of separation, while the former gently awakens us. The ego makes up the problem of guilt, projects it from the mind onto the body, and leads us to seek magical solutions there that never truly work. Thus, the body is a maladaptive solution to a non-existent problem. The miracle, on the other hand, offers us the true solution of forgiveness, which undoes our only problem -- the mind's decision for the ego. Expediting this process is adopting Jesus' attitude of non-judgment toward our attempts at magic. This alleviates our guilt and frees us to look with open eyes at our mind's mistake and choose again.
